Cohiba, the flagship brand of Habanos, was created in 1966 for President Fidel Castro and initially produced at the top-secret El Laguito factory. Named after the ancient Taino word for tobacco leaves, Cohiba cigars are crafted from the finest “selection of selection” leaves sourced from the renowned Vegas de Primera in the Vuelta Abajo zone. What sets Cohiba apart is its unique fermentation process—three of the filler leaves (seco, ligero, and the rare medio tiempo) undergo an additional fermentation in barrels, imparting the signature aroma and flavour that define Cohiba cigars.
