The Reserva Especial was La Flor Dominicana's sophomore release and the result of the most important decision made within the company's history: the purchase of their own farm to grow their own tobacco. The cigar boom of the '90s made it increasingly difficult for a small company to acquire the robust tobaccos they sought; most available options were leftovers from larger, more established brands.

Faced with this challenge, La Flor Dominicana decided to grow their own tobacco, a decision that would change everything. This allowed them to shift away from the traditionally mild flavor profiles for which the Dominican Republic was known, and create cigars like the Reserva Especial, Ligero, Double Ligero, and other blends celebrated for their extraordinary character, power, and flavor.
