The key to their success came with Nicaraguan tobacco, which became the foundation for Oliva’s survival and rise to prominence.

In 2006, the release of Oliva Serie V brought the brand into the spotlight. Crafted by a small group of expert rollers and meticulously blended for strength and style, Serie V was an immediate success among connoisseurs. The blend’s complexity, built around Nicaraguan long filler tobaccos, particularly Jalapa Valley ligero, delivers a deep, bold flavour.

In 2012, Oliva introduced the Serie V Melanio in honour of the family’s first tobacco grower, Melanio Oliva. This version features a Sumatra-seed wrapper grown in Ecuador, distinguishing it from the original blend. The Oliva Serie V Melanio Figurado went on to become the Cigar of the Year 2014, boasting rich, bold notes of leather with a range of coffee, caramel, and woody flavours.
